The Carlisle Area Family Life Center provides FREE limited, obstetrical ultrasounds. These ultrasound scans are done early in pregnancy and determine three things:
- that your pregnancy is inside your uterus (not ectopic)
- that your baby is alive (he/she has a heartbeat)
- the estimated due date for your baby
The Confirmation of Pregnancy that our nurse gives you can be used to start benefits (such as Medical Assistance, Cash Assistance, etc.), to start pre-natal care, or to receive other services such as WIC, etc.
If you are still considering pregnancy options, an ultrasound can determine if your pregnancy is viable (developing normally). Since up to 25% of pregnancies end in miscarriage, determining viability and the estimated number of weeks that you may be pregnant is very important. There is no need for you to go through the stress and expense of an abortion if the pregnancy will not continue.
