Learning and Earning for Expecting Moms
Preparing for a baby involves more than picking out a name and setting up a nursery. It means learning how to care for a newborn, manage your finances, handle stress, and keep your baby safe, all at once, often while navigating your own physical and emotional changes.
That is exactly what our Learning and Earning for Expecting Moms program, or LEEM, is designed for.
What LEEM Involves
LEEM is a free, 8-week program where you and your partner meet one-on-one with a trained volunteer to work through topics that directly apply to your life right now. Sessions cover:
- Having a Healthy Pregnancy
- Financial Responsibility
- Safety for Your Baby
- Caring for Your Baby
- Stress Management and Safe Sleep
- Feeding Your Baby
- Infant and Maternal Health
- Labor and Delivery
The one-on-one format means sessions move at your pace and focus on what matters most to you. Your volunteer is there to help you feel prepared.
Your Reward for Completing the Program
When you finish all eight sessions, you get to choose between a free stroller or a free pack-n-play for your baby.
It is our way of celebrating what you have accomplished and making sure you have something meaningful waiting on the other side!
Material Support
In addition to LEEM, Carlisle Area Family Life Center provides material assistance to clients through donated items from churches, local businesses, and community organizations. Newborn layettes, toys, and other essentials help make sure new mothers have what they need for their babies.
Availability varies, so reach out to ask what is currently on hand.
Who Can Enroll
Any pregnant woman is welcome to call our center for more information and to enroll in the LEEM program. Walk-ins are welcome for general questions, but enrolling in LEEM starts with a phone call.
